If your Firefox does not work properly, that is why you are facing a tremendous problem common reason of it is due to the crashing of Firefox between other programs running the system, there may be another reason too that the browser has been disabled by the infection. It may not be able to get compatibility with the Operating System you are using and that is why cannot be opened in the system. I can give you some recommendations to fix start-up issues, first is End other programs, there my be some programs that are still running in the system are concerning your Firefox, you have to restart the system and besides this it is required to end all running programs in the system.
Secondly you have to End extra firefox.exe processes, some extension like Skype 4.0, Norton tool bar and Norton IPS may not have the capacity to close your Firefox properly, this is why you can not open Firefox which is being discarded, if you want to solve the problem you need to open up 'Process' tab of Windows Task Manager and then you will select the firefox.exe entry and click the 'End Process' button, you have to do it till all the additional firefox.exe processes are stopped. At this moment you are ready to open your Firefox and in the Add-ons menu and open the Extensions panel. It is needed that you have to disable Norton toolbar, Norton IPS and Skype 4.0.
Hello Elmer,
Make sure that you are installing firefox in the right location on the primary hard drive (C:) which should be in the program files, otherwise if you are loading the firefox program somewhere the operating system may not be able to find it and execute hence the error that you are getting.
Another thing that I will suggest that you try is getting a fresh firefox setup from the internet and then installing it. The one that you are installing may be corrupt hence cannot work properly when you install. Also repair the registry settings using ccleaner program, maybe the firefox registries are corrupt.
