Hey, I am getting an error message saying ‘error 1720 windows installer,’ it says that ActiveX Component is unable to create objects. What does that mean?
It means that ActiveX Component is being blocked by some third party application or Antivirus or infection from creating objects or maybe some sub-processes it requires.
It also occurs when the scrrun.dll is not registered in the system or becomes corrupt.
Follow these steps to fix this problem:
1. Go to Start menu, type ‘command prompt’ without quotes, right-click and select ‘Run as administrator’ and press ‘Enter.’
2. Paste without quotes, ‘cd C:\windows\SysWow64’ into the black screen if your system is 64-bit and ‘cd C:\windows\system32 ’ in case you are using the 32-bit operating system.
3. Paste ‘regsvr32 scrrun.dll’ without quotes and hit ‘Enter.’
It will re-register the ‘.dll’ file correctly. Hope it helps!
If you are installing something when you encounter this problem, try updating to the latest version of Windows Installer and the best way to do this is to update your operating system to the latest Service Pack. For Windows XP, download Windows XP Service Pack 3. This is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows XP.
For Windows Vista, download Windows Vista Service Pack 2. This is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows Vista. For Windows 7, download Windows 7 Service Pack 1. This is the latest and only Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows 7. For Windows 8, you should update to Windows 8.1 from the Windows Store. Click to restart your computer when you are prompted.
Try installing the program again after this then see if it works.
