Hi Greg,
Chances are the flv file you downloaded is damaged or a broken download. Try downloading the file again and see if it downloaded successfully and 100% completed. If it doesn't work, try playing the file with another player. The file could be just not compatible with the player you are using and could play with another player. Hope this works.

If the file is a video but it doesn’t play, one possible reason is the codec it is using. Try converting the file to another format let’s say MP4 which is widely used nowadays. Download Format Factory and install. It supports Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 including Windows Server 2003.
You can also use HandBrake to convert your file. The latest version at the moment supports 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. Windows XP and Windows Vista are no longer supported. To make sure you are able to play almost any video format, installing a codec pack would help. Try downloading K-Lite Codec Pack Mega.
This mega variant of the K-Lite codec pack is the largest of the four variants: basic, standard, full, and mega. This codec pack provides everything that you need to play all your audio and video files. This codec pack also includes ACM/VFW codec which can be used by video encoding/editing programs. This codec pack includes Media Player Classic so you can immediately play your files.
The latest version at the moment is K-Lite Codec Pack Mega 15.4.0. For Windows XP Service Pack 3, the latest and last compatible version is K-Lite Codec Pack Mega 13.8.5.
