Forum error messages while installing AccountRight 2011

Hi Guys,

In the last few days, I have been getting forum error messages, specifically – "An error occurred while setting up the AccountRight library" while installing AccountRight 2011. This thread has been created to keep all information in one location.

Update:  This is intended for people with extensive knowledge of the program and a support note has just been made so you can find what is causing the error.

There are a number of  possible causes for this error, to help us identify it attach your error log. To find your error log:

  • Locate App Data diagnostics folder.

      Windows Vista/7 – C:Usersuser.nameAppDataLocalMYOBAccountRig​ht2011.1Diagnostics
      Windows XP – C:Documents and Settingsuser.nameLocal SettingsApplication DataMYOBAccountRight2011.1Diagnostics

  • Locate 'SetupUtil-' Log file (latest). Include with your reply

If you can't view the files, follow these steps

Windows XP

1. Right-click the Windows Start button and choose Explore.
2. Go to the Tools menu and choose Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. Select the option Show hidden files and folders.
5. Click OK.

Windows Vista & Windows 7

1. Right-click the Windows Start button and choose Open Windows Explorer.
2. Go to the Organize menu and choose Folder and search options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. Select the option Show hidden files, folders and drives.
5. Click OK.

An error occurred while setting up the AccountRight library. Please restart the computer and reinstall AccountRight. If you’re unable to install, contact MYOB Technical Support.

Hello Vera,

From the details you have posted above, it seems like you may have upgraded that file to the AccountRight Premier v19 that has got a lot of  features as compared to the AccountRight Standard as well as the Plus 2011. My recommendation will be that you give the Tech support team a call or email them so that you can organize for when the file can be delivered in and downgraded.

You can as well just download the latest installer version for AccountRight 2011 going to the MYOB website. You will need to have an account for you will be required to log in so that you can download the application.
