Hello all,

I have OS Windows 7 installed on my PC. I recently installed FRAPS to record a high resolution video.

I have also installed the latest version of direct 11 to support high quality videos.

A friend of mine also suggested me to install the latest video drivers. I did so but on starting FRAPS I receive an error on the screen. The screenshot of the error is attached below:

There was a problem initializing DirectX9.

FRAPS error 8

There was a problem initializing DirectX9.

Please ensure your video drivers are up to date and you have the latest

version of DirectX installed.

                                                                        OK

Does anyone know what error 8 means? I don’t know how to resolve this problem.

This error keeps on coming whenever I start the application.

Your views and suggestions are required in solving the issue. Looking forward to your messages.

Thank you in advance.

Regards.

Wilson.

There are a lot of people who are getting this error 8 while using fraps. This is the solution that most of these used to solve the problem.

If you have a graphics card, please update the drivers to the latest version as it will automatically update the directx on your system.

  1. Open up the services page by typing Services in the search bar of the startup screen and enter. On the next page, scroll down to the directx services and see if they are running or not.
  2. Sometimes when you boot up your system, some services require for fraps do not initialize properly. You can reboot the system again to solve the problem.

I’m not sure if you really installed Microsoft DirectX 11 because according to the image, the detected Microsoft software was not Microsoft DirectX 11. It is Microsoft DirectX 9. There is no problem with your operating system. Fraps supports Windows 7 so there should be no problem. Since I think the problem is with your Microsoft DirectX software, it should be updated.

Visit Microsoft DirectX 11 to download this Microsoft Windows component. Once downloaded, open Windows Explorer then navigate to the download folder. Double-click the downloaded installer to update your Microsoft DirectX 9 to Microsoft DirectX 11. Once updated, restart your computer then try Fraps again. Also, try installing the latest Fraps. Visit Download Fraps. It supports Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
