Free light and fast defragger software
I defrag my computer regularly so that my hard disk performance is always optimized. But, it takes a lot of time.
So, I want a free software, a light and fast defragger.

Hello Cynthiawgalloway,
It is better to use the built-in Defragmentation in the Windows to optimize the hard disk performance. It is already free in window. Here is the path to find it.
Have a good day.

Hi Cynthiawgalloway,
Actually, it is not the disk defragmenter that consumes time when you defragment your hard drive. It is the amount of data stored in your hard drive and the level of fragmentation it generated. If you defragment your hard drive regularly but still it takes a long time to finish every time you do it, check again how long is the “regular”.
If you said you defrag your hard drive regularly but that regular is about a month or more until the next scheduled defragmentation then it will still generate big fragmentation level because of the length for the next defragmentation to happen. The higher the fragmentation level, the longer the process to finish.
If you want to have a faster defragmentation process, make the schedule a little shorter like every week. If your hard drive has several partitions, the drive or the partition that gets the highest fragmentation level is the system drive or drive C. Every time you start your computer, modifications are happening in the system and files and folders are getting created, deleted, and modified.
These things add to the fragmentation level of the hard drive. I myself perform a regular maintenance on my computer and I defragment my hard drive every Saturday. That’s more or less four times a month. This puts my system in the peak of its performance.
I am only using a Pentium 4 CPU and its performance is faster than my sister’s Dual Core laptop in terms of booting and starting applications. Try downloading PC Tools Performance Toolkit and unpack the file with 7-Zip. Use the supplied password to unpack.
