I have a Gateway FPD1975W Widescreen High-Definition LCD.
I used NVIDIA FeForce 8500GT card.
The monitor range is set to 60Hz. The problem is whenever I start Counter Strike game, my monitor will goes into black and then gives me a "Frequency Out of Range" Error.
Is this an error with my monitor's resolution?
If so, how can I set it correctly?
Frequency Out of Range Error when playing games
The reason why you're getting a "Frequency Out of Range"Â error is that your monitor's resolution cannot be handled by the game.Â
What you can do for this is to override your monitor's refresh rate to about 60.
To do that, follow the steps below:
-
Go to Start> Run
-
Type "dxdiag" in the run box
-
The directx diagnostic tool should open
-
Go to the "More Help" tab
-
Click on Override
-
The Override Value should be set to whatever your monitor can support ( set it to 60 or 100 )
-
Exit the dxdiag application
This should set your monitor's refresh rate to what the game can support.
Also, make sure you have the latest drivers for your NVIDIA card.
Good luck!
