I think those data apps that you mentioned will surely be the primary data communication tools in the future. Since most of those applications offers unlimited texting. But there will surely be new and more demanding services that will come along. And more and more cell phone users will take advantage of a much wider and a lot more new features and capabilities of their mobile phones. Sending SMS will cost cheaper on the future years due to the high demand on using those data apps.
