If you don’t want your students to play games during their computer lab subject or visit gaming websites, you simply need to block those websites from their computers. When you block a website from a computer, the user will not be able to access that website no matter what browser he uses. To do this, launch Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc”.

Look for the file called “hosts” and open it with Notepad or any text editor program or double-click it and select “Notepad”. Place your cursor at the end of the last line which will say something like “127.0.0.1 localhost” then press Enter to create a new line.

Below that line, type without quotes “127.0.0.1”, press the space bar to insert a space, and then type the address of the website you want to block. For example without quotes, “127.0.0.1 www.facebook.com”.

Enter all the websites you want to block then when you are finished, save the file then open your web browser and test it. For this to work, you need to know which websites they are visiting so you can block each of them.
