Use “7-Zip”.
1: 7-Zip is free of charge software. Detach setup folder accessible for mutually 32-bit and 64-bit Windows.
2: Now right-click on the folder that you would want to add password protection, click on 7-Zip, then “Add to archive.”

3: Create a name, and choose archive set-up as Zip.

4: To guard it, shift to the Encryption part, penetrate a password, re-enter the password, and lastly, OK key. This zip folder will come into view in the same file where your unique folder is positioned.

OR

Using WinRAR
1: Download WinRAR and install it. Then follow simple on-screen directions.
2: Now right-click on the folder, and select “Add to archive” alternative to perceive Archive name and parameter dialog.

3: Pierce a name for your password protected file, and choose ZIP as archive set-up.

4: Lastly, click on the “Set password” button to generate a Password to guard your folder.

Locking a file and protecting it with a password is easy by compressing it into a ZIP file or any archive format. You don’t lock the actual file, you just compress it. It’s like putting the file inside a container and then securing that container with a password so anyone who wants to open the file has to know the password first.

Protecting an archive with a password doesn’t protect it from getting viewed. Even if an archive like a ZIP file is secured with a password, you can still view what’s inside the ZIP file. It’s just that you cannot get the file or extract it if you don’t know the password.

There are many programs you can use to create an archive and the three most popular among them are WinZip, WinRAR, and 7-Zip. The first two programs are commercial software while the last one is free software. The last one is also the best among the three because it provides a high compression ratio than the other two. Download the latest 7-Zip and install it.

Once installed, in Windows Explorer, navigate to the location of the file you want to compress. Right-click the file, point to “7-Zip,” and select “Add to archive.”

Select file to compress

On the next screen, in “Archive format,” select the format you want for the archive. Default is “7z.” If you want a ZIP file, select “zip” from the dropdown list. To protect the archive with a password, under “Encryption,” enter the password twice then click “OK.”

Configure the compression and add password

The compression should begin after this then just wait until it is complete and that’s it.
