Global Position System without smartphone?

Hi! I want to know if I can use Global Positioning System(GPS) without facing a smartphone. I am talking about that thing which gives you directions when you are driving and then you reach your destination step by step. Do I need to buy a smartphone for that? I hope not because I don't have one right now and I need GPS! Thanks!

Hello, You are taking about (2) two devices here: 1. GPS Navigation System 2. Smartphone with GPS; Allow me first to define GPS, the simplest explanation is, it is a system that provides exact location through distribution of coordinates. Now, let's go back to the 2 items you've mentioned.

1. GPS Navigation System-  This is what you usually found in a car- sometimes installed on their headunit or sometimes placed on the dashboard. Physcically, it looks like an LCD. Basically, it is only a tool used by drivers to get from one point to another. It provides the directions.

2. Smartphone GPS- It's a normal phone and most of the phones right now are equipped with this technology- even the cheap ones. The only difference of this, it is only an application within the phone.

Actually, I recommend that you use the Smartphone with GPS as there are alot of free applications that you can use for this requirement, such as, Google Maps and Waze.
