I was able to easily install the Microsoft Exchange Server in our Active Directory which is a functioning Active Directory.
However, I find that some crucial server maintenance work are not being accomplished.
The setup of our Exchange Server is very simple having one Exchange Server in a single domain and maintenance should not be that much of a problem.
What I need now is detailed information in order to have a good overall picture of what of server needs in terms of maintenance.
I understand that there are maintenance work to be done daily and maintenance work to be done on a monthly basis. Please help.
Good overall picture of what of server needs in terms of maintenance.
What the Exchange server on a daily basis in terms of maintenance include the following five crucial tasks.
-
First, you should always make that you check for low disk space.
-
Second, you should check the queues.
-
Thirdly you always need to confirm that a successful nightly full backup has completed. That will come in handy when there is data loss.
-
Fourthly you will need to update your antivirus signatures.
-
And then you will make sure that you scan the event logs for expected and unexpected errors.
Apart from that, you might just want to leave Exchange alone, for excessive administration may be another reason why the Exchange servers crash.
