Cloud storage is a type of  online storage where data is stored in virtualized pools of storage which are generally hosted by third parties. Hosting companies operate large data centers.People who require their data to be hosted buy or lease storage capacity from them. Cloud storage services may be accessed through a web service application programming interface (API), or through a Web-based user interface.

Google drive to be released next week

 

Hi,

When we say Cloud Storage, it is basically referring to an online space that any we can use to store our data. Through Cloud Storage, we can back up our different files and data just like what we are doing with our USB, flash drives, and external hard drives.

You can see below the architecture of a usual Cloud Storage system:

As you can see, Cloud Storage is very convenient to use because you can retrieve your data from anywhere as long as you have a device that can connect to the internet.
