MS Office Communicator 2007 has encountered a problem
We had a similar error before when we failed to update the program. Microsoft updates usually fix these kind of problems. I also scoured the internet for some answers to the same problem, and what I got is the similar answer of updating the programs to remove this error. Is your current work pc connected to the internet?
If it is, try to have it updated, then restart your computer. After rebooting try to use the communicator again. I have also found another solution which is to turn the Auto discover in outlook, I haven’t tried this solution before as well, just check and see if which solution works best for you.

MS Office Communicator 2007 has encountered a problem
In our company some people faced problem with communicator. If they call someone through communicator, the other end receives error message “Microsoft Office communicator 2007 has encountered problem a need to close” and this error doesn’t create a event log.
SO the steps we have taken:
• Reinstalling communicator
• Creating a new profile for outlook
• Creating a new profile
• Log in to windows as a different user.
For performing these task, you need to have Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and latest patch, MS Office 2003 SP3, Office Communicator 2007 r2 Version 3.5.6907.221

Microsoft is notorious for their software to malfunction when you are running an old version of it (even if it is the version you prefer). It is likely that this version is outdated and so it is not working perfectly. There are a variety of options that you can try in order to resolve this issue:
– uninstall the program and then reinstall it to clear the error pathway (only if you have access to the software CD and key)
– attempt to use a different log-in pathway (select a different user upon log-in to the system)
– update the software so that it is currently up to date, or purchase and install the newest version of the software
– Check the microsoft website for your version and get a repair packet (hotfix) which should be available if the problem has been seen by many people for that version.
– Call Microsoft Technical support if all of the above fail to work, it could be a problem with the system itself and not the software (although it most likely is the software)
Hopefully this was helpful!
