Having difficulty to setting up Outlook Express

Hi,

I’m using Outlook Express and having difficulty setting it up (I'm ashamed to say!). A few weeks ago I took the PC to the shop and had it formatted. I am still using the normal hosts (POP3 and SMTP, with port 110 and port 25). No matter what I do though I get the following error message "The host 'SMTP' could not be found", POP3 is the same. I feel as if old age has taken my brain cells because I can't figure this out; I have tried Microsoft but couldn't find any answers. Any help would be appreciated, screenshot is below:

Hi there Darla K Sanders,

The very first thing you should do is – try connecting to your mail using a webmail client. This is just to make sure that everything is working with your e-mails. If you cannot connect, that would be the reason of the error – wrong username, password or server failure.

Another thing that could be wrong is the way how you've entered your e-mail information. Contact your provider to give you the exact details for Outlook Express. Also, check the input in the SMTP and POP3 fields. It should look like pop3.yourdomain and smtp.yourdomain and make sure that you check the box in case your server requires authentication.

Best regards,

Hi,

A single (.) Error in any Email address, website can take you to hundreds of errors. So it's never shameful to ask when you are stuck.

* First of all check your internet settings. Make sure that your internet is working and open it in your default browser.

* Secondly you are entering your email address in the wrong way; some providers do not need a full email account in Email settings. This is where you adjust the settings. Go to your webmail and first see your settings there don't be over confident that you know these settings as you do this once a year and a single mistake can lead you to wrong connectivity. Once you are login to webmail just copy and paste that email in your email part.

This is where you are making a mistake, no problems with the settings in the pop and SMTP.
