Hi there and a good day to everyone. I encountered an issue with my smartphone.
Seems like my Galaxy S can not read Arabic characters.
I tried to open a file that contained such characters, and instead of them, little squares were placed.
I tried to find an application but I could not find.
And I do not know how to get a Language Pack for the phone.
Can you please help me and tell me how to make Galaxy S read Arabic content?
Help on how to make Galaxy S read arabic characters
Hi Timothy!
Fortunately, there are a lot of applications you can use to read the Arabic texts. You can use the MIRSAL application from the Android market, which will let you read your SMS in Arabic and also to compose messages. After that, when you want to read, let's say, Arabic websites, it will require you to install Persian Explorer and I would suggest doing that too.
Other applications are Arabic SMS Reader or the Multi-Lang To Arabic Translator that you can also download from the Google Play Store. In order to download an application, open the store (either Google Play or whatever you are using; in some regions Google Play isn't available, especially in the Middle East, so I would recommend the Slide Me store) and type in the search bar (usually marked with a small magnifier icon) the name of the application you want to download.
Another solution would be to use the multilingual keyboard. Download the Multilingual Keyboard from Android store and open it. Then, enable the multiling and switch the IME to Multiling. Download the MyScript plug-in and enable the languages that appear on the drop down menu. Check the keyboard setting and the language should appear. If not, restart the mobile phone and choose the language by continuously pressing the spacebar.
An observation I would make to you is that you might be using the Android 2.1 version, which doesn't have an Arabic support integrated. You should upgrade to Android 2.2, that comes with this facility and it spares you a great deal of effort.
Good luck!
