Your Android 1.6 version is pretty old and outdated now. I suggest you to try to update your Compaq AirLife 100 to Android version 2.1 or even 2.2 (Gingerbread). 

Sadly the official Skype app for Android seems designed to work only on Android 2.1 or later devices. But you can try to download older version of Skype app.

For example, you could try to DOWNLOAD and install this version, maybe it will work on your Android 1.6 Donut.

If it refuses to work, then install this version.

If neither of them works, try Skype alternatives: WhatsApp, Google Talk, Nimbuzz, Fring.

Your Compaq Airlife 100 smartbook runs on Android 1.6 Donut which is very old. In Android history, I think “Donut” is the second Android operating system to be released. Since the platform is quite old, I’m not sure if you can find a suitable version of Skype that will still run on this device.

The earliest version of Skype that I was able to find was Skype 4.7.0.43514. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if this version will run on your device because Skype 4.7.0.43514 requires Android 2.2 Froyo or higher. If you want to use Skype on an Android device, you probably need to buy a much newer one because your device is very old to support Skype.

The latest Skype can be downloaded on the Google Play store: Skype. Anyway, just visit this link to check if Google Play still has a version left for your device.
