Hi Dears,

Can someone help me secure my hard drive?

 

Actually, i want to secure my hard drive not the hard disk, as there is an option to set password on my computer so that my data can be secured. Is there any option to set a password in specific drive?

There are so many available software online. You can download any of them and use it for your Drive hissing. For example, DriveLocker is a free windows tool that allows you to hide drives from view on your computer. Having this type of drive hiding software on your Windows system, enables you to keep drives that you deem personal or private, away from inquisitive eyes.

 

 

After the software setup has finished running, you will see a window with your drive names. Hit the check box of your personal drive, so that the software will hide your drive from others.

Help me secure my hard drive

 

Dear Sahil,

 

The problem is about hiding the drive. If I hide this by using this software, I will also be hiding my drive from me. And whenever I need to use this drive, I need to unlock it each time. Kindly tell me if you have any other option in this circumstance. Basically, I want to make the access of other users limited on my PC.

 

I need to make 2 users. One is the administrator (My account). The other is the user’s account. I want the other user not to be able to access my secured drive. In case of the software that you suggested, sometimes, other users can access my drive through it. Because it is just about hiding the drive not security.

 

Please help me out.

Hi Dear,

 

If you want to hide a drive, then DriveLocker is a good software. But if you want to make it as your personal drive, so that others can’t access, you need to try to lock folders, and create password to protect the hard drive. These two are for locking folder or drives, and you have to set passwords for them. Other users can see this but they can’t access them without knowing the password.

Help me secure my hard drive

 

You don’t need to install any other software if you are using Windows XP. Because in Windows XP, the facility is built in, wherein you can secure your specific drives by setting passwords for them. All you need is to follow the tasks as follows:

 

1: Right click the drive that you want to secure.

 

2: Select properties.

 

3: Select security tab.

 

4: Users list will be there.

 

5: Remove all users from the list except your administrator user.

 

6: Click apply.

 

7: Restart your Computer.

 

After doing this, you can see that your drive is not accessible anymore to all other users.
