So my boyfriend is going to college next month and we're going to get web-cams so we can face chat since I will barely get to see him with his freshman year of college and my senior year and both of our sports but, Anyways.
I was wondering what type of webcam is the best.
I've heard some are extremely defective and I don't want to get a bad one. Help please?

Hello there,
Basically all webcams are good for just a normal chit chat, but if you up to definition try getting a HD webcam BUT really its a waste of money, Because the more definition that you are using the bigger its file size thus making it hard for it to reach your boyfriend(but if you both have super fast internet speed then why not give it a shot).
IMHO just buy a normal webcam for about 20-30$ I have heard logitech and creative are good brands. Also there are webcams that have built in microphones i think its worth the package.

Help on picking out a Web-cam?
I would advise you to purchase Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000. It is a great web cam in the sense that it consist of low light setting which does not require any much light as far as your computer screen is bright. It also has a built in MIC.
It is also helpful in making videos. It shows you very clear pictures of the other end you just need to adjust the nozzle in order to get clear pictures. Structure wise it is nice and small and could be adjusted anywhere.
The web-cam also have great variety if settings and options so that you could use it as you wish and as you like.

If I needed one for the desktop, I would get the:
Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000

Help on picking out a Web-cam?
You really need a web cam which a high resolution, because a web cam with low resolution cause the grainier in the picture and its view. You need to fix the resolution which is recommended and it is 640 x 480. Also make sure that your web cam is of high frame otherwise the image of web cam will be blurring or stutter and cause the freezing of picture for a while. Let me tell you that the frame rate is always measured in frame/sec. so you must see the label of fps on the web cam. Now auto lights and focus are also available in new web cams. You can adjust every thing as you like to do. So it can perform better and good.
