Help programming with visual basic

Here my problem is:

directoryname="admingest"

If (Dir(nomRepertoire, vbDirectory)) = vbEmpty

Then on this passage he said that the conversion of the string in double is not valid. With that i want to test the existence of a directory but i don't understand where the problem is?

Help please.
