How to solve external hard disk data error and conduct cyclic redundancy check? Please guide stepwise. Will there be need of a drive or an online software shall do?

Purchase a new HDD and transfer all your important data to it While you still may be able to access the HDD with imac or Xp, Windows 7 the CRC code is a sure indication that the HDD will die anyway. A new HDD wouldn’t be too expansive assuming you already have an external enclosure or some other HDD reading device. Before buying you just have to make sure that your enclosure and hard drive are compatible and probably be SATA connections.
