I am experiencing a problem with my Microsoft Excel. Whenever I try starting a macro in an existing spread sheet, I encounter an error message saying “It appears that you have opened it using Internet Explorer.
Please download the spread sheet to your computer and open it using Excel”. It somehow worked after a long time but then it suddenly stopped working again.
I already tried looking at the file associations and I thought I saw something wrong but I still could not correct it.
I hope you’ll help me deal with this problem. Thank you.
How to access macro in excel?
Hallo Myrna,
Are there changes that you have made off late using the visual basic editor, because they might be the changes are causing the error to occur. You may have created some module in using the microsoft excel macro that is meant to export the data to internet explorer and thus the problem that you are receiving.
Otherwise just open the visual basic editor by pressing ALT+ F11 on the keyboard and check all the modules that you have created using the macro, if there are some you might suspect to be causing the problem, just delete them, and then close the VBA editor and then restart excel.
Hope this helps.

How to access macro in excel?
In Microsoft Office Excel, if you created or recorded a macro within an existing spreadsheet, the file will be saved with a different extension name. If the file is saved in the default XLSX format (.xlsx), a new file will be created and the new macro-enabled file will be saved with “.xlsm” extension.
The actual recorded macro is saved within the Office Excel file and not as a separate macro file. It doesn’t work that way with Microsoft Office Excel. Now, even if you successfully created a macro in Microsoft Office Excel, opening the file will not automatically run the macro. As a security feature in Microsoft Office Excel, the macro is disabled after closing the file or Microsoft Office Excel.
This means the macro setting has to be enabled each time you open the macro-enabled Excel file. To run and use the macro, start Microsoft Office Excel then open the macro-enabled Excel file. Once the file is opened, click “File” then “Options.” In “Excel Options” window, select “Trust Center” on the left pane then click “Trust Center Settings” on the right.
In “Trust Center” window, select “Macro Settings” on the left pane. On the right, under “Macro Settings” section, select “Enable all macros (not recommended; potentially dangerous code can run)” then click “OK.” Your macro should run now. Note: you need to do this every time you need to use the macro on the file.
