There are several images folder in your Joomla so since I don't know which one is bothering you, I'll explain all.
 
To access the template's images or the system images, you will need to use the FTP manager, like Total Commander. Template's images are placed inside every template's folder and system images are in the root.
 
Other images folder is the one that contains content images, banners etc. To access that one, you will have to login to your Joomla backend, and under the Site menu click the Media Manager item. You can also access the folder using the FTP manager, but I would suggest you to use the Media Manager instead.
