Hello guys,
I am getting a new computer soon and was wondering if there’s a way to export password from Explorer. I have tons of passwords and accounts saved in my current PC. Is there a way to download a file or something containing all these login details and then export it to my new PC? Will there be compatibility issues too (i.e. different versions of Explorer)?
How can I export password from Explorer browser?
You can view your saved passwords by using IE PassView. This is the download link: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/internet_explorer_password.html
You don’t have to install IE PassView and it works for Internet Explorer versions 4.0 to 9.0.
But if you really want to export your passwords, follow these steps:
-
Click on Start.
-
Choose Run.
-
Type “regedit” and it will open Registry Editor.
-
Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerIntelliFormsSPW."
-
Select SPW folder.
-
Click on File.
-
Choose Export.
-
Name it and choose the destination where you want to export it.
To import the data, simply double click or right click > Merge the file.Choose Run.

Hi Hollis Riley,
You can use Files and Settings Transfer Wizard so that all of your desired settings specially those passwords and bookmark and all of the files that you want to transfer to your new pc will be able to transfer. On the other hand, you can use Registry Editor to get all your passwords from Internet Explorer. Just click Start>Run and type regedit. Locate this:
-
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerIntelliFormsStorage2, right click this file and select export then copy this file to your pc. When it's done right click it and select merge.
