How can I password protect my laptop?

I have come to find out that my roommate is using my laptop when I am not around. I wouldn't mind, but he recently got a virus on it and I had to spend hours cleaning it. Is there a way for me to password protect my laptop so that he cannot access it? I've asked him not to use it but I can tell he is still doing so. Thanks for your help.

Yes of course, you can password protect your laptop very easily so that anybody else cannot access it, by simply following these steps,

  • Log into the computer as the administrator >> go to start >> control panel >> user accounts >> user accounts >> manage user accounts >> select the account that you want to set a password >> click on Reset password >> type the password >> confirm the password >> ok >> ok

However, apart from password protecting the computer, you can also follow other security measures like disabling CD or USB booting, HD encryption, using VPNs & simply locking up the laptop.

Best Regards!
