Every time that I open my PC there's a window that pop's up saying that my Antivirus is out dated. But whenever I clicked on update it just keeps saying that it cannot update.
How can I update my Antivirus?
I have the license till June 2011.

If you are not able to update your Antivirus the problem can be caused by the firewall of your computer. The firewall of your computer may be blocking the Antivirus software from connecting to the internet. You can make changes in your firewall settings to allow the Antivirus software to connect to the internet for updating. For allowing your Antivirus software to connect to internet you may click on the start button, then you can select the control panel.
Then you can select the windows firewall, then you will see many options on the left side. You can select the allow a program or feature through firewall. There you can select the Antivirus program and then click the allow button. If the problem was due to windows firewall, now you will be able to update the Antivirus.
You can update your Antivirus by clicking on the update link, for updating your Antivirus you should be connected to the internet, the updated files will be downloaded from the internet and will be saved on your computer.
So, if your virus update is not working you can check and make sure that you are connected to the internet, if you are not connected to the internet you may make connection with the internet and try again by clicking on the update link. If still you are not able to update your Antivirus there should be some other problem. Your question does not specifically say which Antivirus software are you using and which version is used.
I can give you an answer by assuming that the Antivirus software to be Avast Antivirus which can be easily downloaded for free from the internet. I will give the answer based on Avast. As I said earlier mostly the problem will be due to your internet connection, if your internet connection speed is very less then also you won’t be able to update your Antivirus. So make sure that you are connected to the internet and have the required speed.
In the case of Avast, if you are using Windows 7 operating system you will be able to open the user interface of the Avast Antivirus by clicking the start button and then you can select all programs, then you will see all the installed programs on your computer, from that you can select Avast.
This will open the user interface for the Avast Antivirus software, on that on the left side you will see a lot of options and from that you can select the maintenance option, then you will see the button to update your virus engine and virus definitions, then it will download all the required files and will update your Antivirus. If you want to update your program then you can click on the button at the bottom to update your Antivirus program. The exact way for doing this will depend on the Antivirus software you are using.
You may also reinstall the Antivirus and then try to update it. Please make sure that the Antivirus software and the version of the software are compatible with the operating system you are using. If they are not compatible try to install a Antivirus software that is compatible with the operating system that you are using.
