How can unable to read a CD or other recordable disk?
If you computer does not read a CD or any recordable disc, try and check if the CD is dirty. If it is try and clean it. If it's clean, try using a CD/DVD drive lens cleaner. It's likely that dust has accumulated inside the optical drive making it hard for it to read the media inserted in it.
When you insert a media into your optical drive, try and check Computer. Click start then go to Computer. Try and see if your optical drive is listed and if the CD/DVD contents are listed when you try and access it. It is likely that it may seem that the computer is not recognizing the media since it did not autoplay but when you check Computer it's actually able to read it.
