Hi R0manpl,
The dead USB port can be fixed by following the steps mentioned below:
Solution 1: Fix the USB through port
1) Click 'Start', Click 'Control Panel'
2) Select 'Hardware and sound' from the control panel
3) Click on 'Device Manager' in the 'Device and Printers' tab
4) Click on 'Universal Serial Bus Controller' in the list of device manager
5) Right Click 'Generic Hub', Click 'Update driver software'
6) Replace the port with the USB hub
7) Restart the system
Solution 2: Replacing the USB port with an unused port
1) Turn off the system
2) Restart the system, Click 'Start' menu
3) Click 'Control Panel', Go to 'System and Maintenance'
4) Click on 'Device Manager', it displays the list of all hardware and external devices
5) Select the 'USB Root option' from the list

7) Replace the USB port with this unused port value
8) Restart the system after the settings are applied
R0manpl,
You USB ports on your laptops are not working. This can be a outer as well as internal problem. You need to confirm that first.
1. Please first check whether the ports are physically damaged or not.Â
2. Try cleaning them through a small computer/laptop cleaning blower.
3. Restart the computer and check now. If it works then well, otherwise its confirmed that it is an internal problem.Â
For solving the issue in internal problem, do the following things –Â
1. Try reloading the chipset driver for your system first.Â
2. By reloading the chipset driver, your problem can get solved but if its not, then you need to format your system.
As it is a laptop, I will advise you to get it formatted from the company's service center.Â
