Hi guys. I hope all will be fine. I heard a lot about ps3 eye cam so I purchased curiously and now I am facing problem with drivers for windows PC. I tried to search cam chipset information but no result. Please tell me how to configure ps3 eye cam for PC device drivers as it has become a challenge for me now. Some suggestion please.

How to configure ps3 eye cam for PC device drivers?

Hi,

Video chat using the playstation eye camera with the PS3 requires:

1. Updated system software installed on your PS3. You can check PS3 System Software Update. 

2. You need a  Sony Entertainment Network account. For a account you can sign up for a free Sony Entertainment Network account, in the XMB  home menu, go to (PlayStation Network) >  (Sign Up) and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you have done the above two steps, simply plug in the PlayStation Eye into one of the USB ports on the PS3. This completes the hardware setup. For more you can visit the PlayStation 3 System Software User's Guide – Video / Voice Chat . Or just see this video:

How to configure ps3 eye cam for PC device drivers?

If you have a Sony PlayStation 3 Eye Camera but there is no driver and you can’t use it, go to or download the Sony PS3 Eye Camera Driver. It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. The Sony PlayStation Eye is a digital camera just like a webcam designed for Sony PlayStation 3.

This technology uses computer vision and gesture recognition in processing the images taken by the camera. With this, it allows players to interact with games using motion and color detection including sound with the use of its built-in microphone array. This is the successor to the EyeToy for the Sony PlayStation 2 released in 2003.

The Sony PlayStation Eye can capture standard video with 60 Hz frame rate at 640 x 480 pixels screen resolution and 120 Hz at 320 x 240 pixels. This is four times the resolution and two times the frame rate of the EyeToy.
