I receive excel sheets from many branches of a company. I want to make a schedule from those sheets. There are about hundred columns and thousand rows of data in a table. I want change that table by converting columns to rows. How can I do it in excel easily using an option?
How to convert data from columns to rows in excel?
You are able to do your work through a Microsoft excel option. This can be done using the transpose option which is in special paste.
I will explain it using an example. Please see the image below.
Now what I want is those headings which are in columns to show in rows. That means heading is as follows.
In cell A1 – Month
In cell A2 – Item Quantity
In cell A3 – payments
And the corresponding data should be displayed Row A, B & C.
Select the entire set of data and copy. Go to another blank sheet and click on the Cell A1.
Then right click and click on the paste special.
Now tick the transpose check box and click ok.
Now you can see that all the data has been converted as you expected.

Use the transpose function in excel. That should help you out. Select the data, copy the data and go to edit, paste special and select the transpose option. Your data will be transposed.
Thank you.

Instead of moving the data manually, you can use an option of the Paste Special command as follows:
-
Select the data in the column.
-
Right click and then select copy.
-
Select the first cell in the destination row.
-
Right click and then select paste special.
-
The paste special dialog box will open.
-
In the lower right corner select the check box labeled “transpose” and click OK.
-
Your data will be transposed into a row.
