How to convert rar file to mp4 on Mac?

Hi I've just downloaded a movie but I can't play it on my Mac. The filetype of the movie is .rar. I've been trying to play it using my windows player, vlc player and apple quicktime player. I guess the format is not compatible with my device and have to convert it to another format. How do I convert rar files to mp4 on Mac?

Hello There,

You should know that RAR is an archive file format, it handles all the types of compress and store for other files, like the movie that you have downloaded, it's included in the RAR file to reduce its size, what you need to do now to watch your movie is to extract the RAR file then just open it  with any video player program.

Use Unrarx for MAC to open RAR files.

Hi Hargrave Lawrence,

Some files are needed to be archived first for more file compression in order for you to download it faster than the original unpacked file, that .RAR file is not a media file but a compressed file that is usually found on the internet downloads. I have searched you one great application for Mac OS that is capable of extracting the file without errors. The application is called WinRAR. It is the trending tool in extracting the files to .RAR or .ZIP extension name.
