How do you create a bootable disk from a USB drive and what software can I use? I need to install Linux mint onto a mini laptop that has no DVD drive. Is this method of installation faster than the ordinary disk that is usually used for installation and can this infect my computer when installation process is going on.

How to Create bootable USB for installation of windows
Hello,
This task can be done either manually or by using any third party software.
There are many awesome tools to create a bootable USB drive for Linux installation. UNetbootin is the best for creating bootable USB installation media for any Linux distributions. There are also other programs like Universal USB Installer, LinuxLive USB Creator etc.
The speed depends on your USB flash drive’s speed. Generally, installation of any OS is made from CD/DVD which is too slow in speed, almost 2-3 MB/s. A pendrive is normally fast as 10-15 MB/s, giving faster performance of installation than CD/DVD. If you use a better pendrive, you’ll get more speed. Even installing Ubuntu might take upto 5 minutes or less.
