Hi!

I have an issue when printing in Microsoft Works. I get the message “Out of memory”.

The program continues to work but I can’t print anything.

If you know how to deal with this error, please let me know.

Thank you!

Hi,

This problem occurs when there is a problem with your printer driver. It may be corrupted or you have the wrong printer driver installed in your computer. To try and fix this, update your printer driver to the latest version or try a different driver version that what you currently have in your system. If this doesn't work, make your current printer as your default printer. You can do this by doing a right click on your printer under Printers and Faxes and then choose Set as Default Printer then try printing again.

Thank you. Hope it helps.

The problem lies in the printer driver that you installed in your computer. First, look for the latest printer driver. Install it and check if the “Out of Memory” error is fixed. If not, try installing an emulation printer driver. Just follow the following steps to install it:

  1. Go to Start > Printers and Faxes > Add Printer. Click on Next > Local printer attached to this computer. Select a port in the “Use the following port box”.

  2. In the Manufacturer, click the manufacturer of the printer driver that will be use as an emulation driver. Choose also the model then click Next. Type the name of the printer in the printer name box and set it default then click Next. Select also the appropriate option for sharing the printer and then click Next > No > Next > Finish.

  3. Test print Works.

Hallo Jonathan,

The problem may be your computer. Your primary hard drive that has the operating system could be full due to having many files that are saved there or your memory is too low and thus the computer runs out of memory when it tries to execute the other system processes like in this case printing.

I will advice that you empty the primary hard drive C of any files that you can backup on an external hard drive so that to free up some more memory. Also increase the RAM memory if your computer. Ensure that you have a memory of not less than 3GB for the computer to work properly.

Hope this helps.
