I'm looking for a way on how to defrag mac wipe harddisk safely and effectively in my macbook pro laptop. Is there a way for this? I'm used to my Windows xp operating system desktop defragment tool. Why is it that mac doesn't have this tool? Please kindly explain your answer in details.Â
How to defrag Mac wipe harddisk safely?
Hi Roberts,
Defragging mac is becoming unpopular due to the emergence of the OS X. It periodically cleans up unused files and manages used files. However there is a tool called idefrag that can be used to defrag mac hard drive. It is a good practice to always back up files before defragging the hard drive. The idefrag tool is available for download. Once you download it, you need to run it at a time that you will not be using your computer because it uses a lot of memory and the computer will be slow. But after the defragmentation process, there will be a significant improvement in system performance. Another tool is the Disk Warrior. This tool is similar to the idefrag and they both take hours to complete the whole process.
