If you want to delete files securely or the other term for it is shred files, CCleaner can also do it. To try it, download the free version of CCleaner and install it. Once installed, start CCleaner then go to “Tools” on the left pane and select “Drive Wiper” on the right. In “Wipe”, set it to “Free Space Only”.
In “Security”, select the number of pass you want. Selecting the default “Simple Overwrite (1 pass)” should be fine. In “Drives”, select or check the drive where you want to shred files. When you are ready, click “Wipe” to begin shredding the drive. This should securely delete all the tracks of the files you already deleted. Recovering them will not be possible.
Setting “Wipe” to “Free Space Only” will shred only the free space of the drive. Setting it to “Entire Drive (All data will be erased)” will result to the shredding of the entire drive and all its contents. This means all files and folders on the drive will be erased permanently.
