I have a video file which says that it is an avi file in properties. When I play it on VLC media player 2.0.5, it says "unknown file type". How do I convert unknown file to movie in divx format? I have a core i7 PC with OS Windows 8.
How do I convert unknown file to movie in divx format?
Hello,
The reason why your VLC media player says it’s unknown file type for .AVI file is that you don’t have correct codec for playing .AVI file. Install VLC Media Player from here: http://www.videolan.org It is free and support many formats, you can see the list in features on the link above.
For converting .AVI to .XVID open VLC Media Player and from file menu select Wizards. Select Transcode/Save to File and click Next. Now Choose and browse to find your AVI file that you want to convert. Select the file and click Ok. Now click on the Next button and select DIVX-1, 2 or 3 – in what format you want to be your AVI file. Choose ASF and click Next. In Additional Transcode Option select Choose and type the name that you want for the DivX file. Finally click on Finish.
