Dear Dorothy
I have read your questions and I agree with you that there are many ways over the internet where you can download Mac OSX auto installer, but the best way to download an auto installer for Mac OSX is the apple support website, to make sure that the software you will be downloading is supported by Apple itself in case you will face any problems later on with the software.
If your Mac OSX doesn’t include a utility called “Software update” then you will find all what you need on the official apple website in order to create an auto installer, but If you want to check manually for updates you can use the following step:
1. On your Mac desktop click on the apple logo located in the top left of your screen.
2. It will open a menu, click on software update.
3. Now your Mac will check for new software.
4. If there are updates to install, a message will pop up asking you if you want to install software updates that are available to your computer.
5. You can chose either of the options. (Not now, install update or show updates)
