The size of the files you are allowed to download with Internet Explorer depends on which version of Internet Explorer you have. You cannot download files larger than 2 gigabytes (GB) in Internet Explorer 6 or lower, and you cannot download files larger than 4 GB in Internet Explorer 7.
There is no limit in Internet Explorer 8. To fix this problem, you can either configure a website dedicated to downloading large files, or you can download Internet Explorer 8.
Option 1: Configure a Website:

To configure a website dedicated to downloading large files, open your Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. How you find your IIS Manager depends on which version of Windows you have.

Click the "Start" menu on your computer and either click "Run" on that menu, or find it under "All Programs" and then "Accessories." In the "Run" text box, type "inetmgr" to open the IIS Manager.

Once you open your IIS Manager, right click somewhere on the website. This will open a box with "Properties" as one of the options. Click it. Once in "Properties," uncheck the box next to the "HTTP Keep-Alives Enabled" option. Then click "OK." You can then download your file.

There are various ways that you can use to download files from the internet. Each browser has a way that it will allow you to download files from the internet.
Firefox for example has a downloader whereby if you have a file that you want to download from the internet, it will queue the file so that you can view the progress of the file as it downloads. This is true for other browsers, though they may have different ways of doing the same.
