How do I enable Hibernate option?
Hi AmandaN,
In order to enable you hibernate options you are required to do the following easy to do steps:
1. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel
2. In Control Panel window. Look for an icon “Power options” in [ classic mode ]
3. If you are in [Category view] then you may find the “Power Options” in “Performance and Maintenance” category . Double click on it.
4. Click on the “Hibernate” tab as shown in the following picture.
5. Check the “Enable Hibernation” Dialogue in order to enable hibernation feature in your computer.
6. Make sure you understand that, this will reserve(preoccupy) the free space in your hard disk equivalent to the RAM installed in the computer. E.g., 512mb or 2gb as shown in the picture. Because in hibernation all the data stored in the ram is temporarily copied to the Hard Disk, and when the computer is waked up from hibernation, the reserved portion is again fetched to the RAM. So make sure to provide room for such a space.
7. In order to hibernate your computer you may click on “Start” button and select “Shut Down”. Just press the “Shift Key”. The “hibernate” button will appear instead of standby. Just click on it. And you are done.
8. If you have “Classic Menu” of “shutting down windows” dialog box then you are just needed to click on drop down list and select the “Hibernate” option and click ok.
Hope this may help you
