How do I remove corrupt email from Outlook?

I have an email in my Outlook that I think is corrupted. When I open the message, Outlook hangs and eventually crashes. I cannot open, move, delete this particular message. How do I remove corrupt email from Outlook? I use Microsoft Outlook 2003.

How do I remove corrupt email from Outlook?

Hi Elaine,

 

I have read your problem, and I will be happy to offer you a solution. The Outlook probably crashes when it tries to view the corrupt message in the reading pane and not when it actually gets selected. The problem can be solved when you disable the reading pane, then you can delete the message without crashing Outlook.

 

Follow the steps below to disable the reading pane: 

 

Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 

 

View > Reading Pane > Off

How do I remove corrupt email from Outlook?

If you are using ms outlook 2003 or 2007 and find it not able to delete, the files could be locked by virus therefore scan the system using updated antivirus may fix it. And when you are able to delete some files and others don’t its most likely for the outlook data corrupted and here you need to use outlook detect and repair tools found in ms outlook help menu.

How do I remove corrupt email from Outlook?

Hello Elaine,

I read your problem so try these solutions. 

A. Locate the you want to delete. The .pst (personal mail storage) and pab personal address book are the usually corrupted files.

To find a .pst file:

Open Outlook.

A.1. On the left side there is a tree view of the folders in Outlook. Each pst file has its own .pst file.

A.2. Right click the folder and select "Properties" from the drop out menu.

A.3. Under the General tab, click the "Advanced" button.

A.4. In the file name dialog box, this is where the path for .pst file.

B. Right click the file, a drop out menu will appear.

C. Select the delete button.

D. Click "yes" to delete the files.

How do I remove corrupt email from Outlook?

HI Elaine,

I have had this problem previously. Here is how it's done. First select the corrupt mail that you want to delete. Secondly, press the Shift key and then the Delete key on your keypad. What this does is it will permanently delete the email.
