When sharing a folder in Windows XP SP2 (Home) with Mac system, in the finder window nothing is showed. And folder sharing permission was set to Everyone – full control and then it was successful giving access to read/write to the folder.
How do I set NTFS security permission from Mac system other than Everyone to access?
How do I set NTFS security permission from Mac system
Hi Gabbie,
A Macintosh computer actually ignores the NTFS ACL settings. What it actually uses is the least restrictive permission set for a specific account. For example, if you are a user who have full account on a share but have read only permission on NTFS, Macintosh will give you full access instead where as on Windows you will only get read only.
This phenomenon is because Macintosh set permission differently from Windows computers and translates permissions differently as well. To set the access to be not everyone and full access, you must set the permission on a Windows computer to set the access by setting deny with matching no-access setting.
