How do I uninstall Avast antivirus?

Hello,

I am using Windows 7 operating system on my desktop. Last week I installed Avast anti-virus 4.1, but this version is out of date, then I tried to uninstall this antivirus from my system.

I cannot uninstall it from my desktop. How do I uninstall this antivirus?

How do I uninstall Avast antivirus?

Hi Wallace,

Uninstalling Avast can be so frustrating sometimes. But fortunately even Avast knows that. So they provide you with a tool for uninstalling Avast when normal uninstallation throw the add/remove programs fails to remove it.

You can download the tool from Avast.

After downloading the tool you will have to run it in save mode which you can access by hitting F8 when the system is booting. You will also need to browse to the folder of your Avast if you choose to change it during installation.

Also reboot your machine after the tool gets the job done.

Just follow the following steps:

1. Click "Start" menu.

2. Go to the "Control Panel" and Double click "Add or remove Programs" icon.

3. Click the software you want to uninstall and click "Remove" button.

How do I uninstall Avast antivirus?

Mr. Wallace Borrowing,

All other software can be removed from Add/Remove program.

Go to control panel > Add/Remove programs and select the desired software that you want to remove from your computer.

But you cannot uninstall the Avast antivirus with this method.

Because Avast does not include uninstall shortcut to the Add/Remove programs.

You have the two methods to remove it permanently.

1. Go to C:Program files Alvi softwareAvast, open this folder and search a file “uninstall” and double click on it. It will remove the Avast completely.

2. 2ND Method is to install Avast uninstall utility. You can download this utility from the internet.

Here is a link to download the Avast Uninstall utility.

Download this software and run it. It will remove Avast permanently.
