How do inbound links differ from outbound links?

What is backlink? Is it same as an inbound link, inlink or inward link? What is then an outbound link? Which one of the two is more important for SEO purposes? What kind of websites should backlink to my website so that my web page gets a higher search engine ranking?

How do inbound links differ from outbound links?

Backlinks are the links which are used to direct towards your website. These links indicate the popularity and importance of website such that search engines will give credit and importance to websites having more number of quality backlinks and indexes with high priority in search results for a search query by giving a page rank. Backlink is also named as inbound link, incoming link or inward link. The links which refer to the other domain in your website are called outbound links. This helps to get some targeted visitors and provides information to the visitors who come to your website. SEO will make a good impact on your website if more number of user related activities takes through your website and helps to have more importance to index your website in search results.
