I have personally used this software for project development and maintenance. it provides me a lost of features like

 

1) Usecase diagram

 

2) Activity diagram

 

3) Workflow diagram

 

4) FlowChart Diagram

 

6) Business level diagrams

 

7) Data Flow Diagram

 

 

It is a Licensed software. A trial version of this software is available. You can download the trail version from the following site.

Hello,

 

Here some useful tools for you (mostly UML):

 

StarUML (Free) / Enterprise Architect from Sparx Systems (Not free)  / Violet / Umbrello UML / ArgoUML

 

If you also want to draw complex shapes for a particular scenario try to use the free vector editing tool, try this one "Inkscape". Simple to produce complex shapes easily.
