I have netgear router which has a good speed via wired connection but my wireless network is running slow. I am willing to buy a new high end router but many people say that I may end up with the same issue mentioned above. Should I buy a new wireless router?
How to fix lag of netgear router?
Hello Aabel!
Before buying a new one please consider the steps below that can eliminate your inter lags.
Reset you router. I know that this is frustrating that you have to reset your router from time-to-time. This is to determine if the problem is really from your router.
1. Just press the reset button in your modem. Most of the time it’s at the back of your router, or you have to use “Pins” to push the emergency reset button.
Reset your LAN card or Wi-Fi card.
1. Right-click in “My Computer/Computer,” select “Manage” and “Computer Management” window will appear.
2. From the left pane select “Device Manager,” in the main pain select/drop down the “Network Adapters.” Right click and select “Disable,” after 20 seconds right-click and select “Enable.”
Update your LAN card or Wi-Fi Card
1. Right-click in “My Computer/Computer,” select “Manage” and “Computer Management” window will appear.
2. From the left pane select “Device Manager,” drop down “Network Adapter” and right click one by one and select “Update Driver Software.” Follow the on screen guide.
3. Restart your system.
Update your routers Firmware.
1. From your address bar, type “192.168.0.1” or for others “192.168.0.2”
2. Look for the “Software Version.” Write it down and look for available fix and update for the driver.
Make Sure your router is not over-heating.
1. Over heat usually bring your router lags. Try to keep a good temperature in your room or with router. If it keeps on over-heating, checking your warranty is not a bad thing before buying a new device.
