Hi,

How in Google can I search for something excluding a specific site.

Say I want to search for "Microsoft. com" but I should not get the search results from Microsoft.com but should get from every where else.

Thanks.

Rob

Hi Rob,

These are my suggestions for your question:

  1. You may want to refine your search by rephrasing the words. Example: You may key in “all about Microsoft” or “Microsoft”.
  2. You may also filter your search by checking advanced search of Google.
  3. If you really want to make a custom search, you may visit here for tutorials on how to remove pages from your search engine.

For more Google search help, you can always check out Google Support.

Thanks and have a nice day!

Hi Robby,

I have some suggestions for you.

1. The best thing is you should be specific in things that will you search. Like in Microsoft what do you want to search about them? For an example you want technical support from them you can search for Google "Microsoft support". And the support website will appear.

2. You can also use the custom search of Google. For more websites and specific webpages you want to search.

I hope this suggestions will help you. And have a nice day!

Dear Robby,

Its very simple just type <keyword(s) -site:http://"site which you want to exclude from search" with your search it will work for you.

For example: If want to search about HTML in Google it will always give you this site w3schools.com in search result but if you don't want to see w3schools.com in result then use.

Type in search box: html <keyword(s) -site:http://"www.w3schools.com" then press enter or click on search.

You will find it working.

You have to go Google advanced search. Type the unwanted keyword or the site name in the field that says ". But don't show pages that have. Any" And you will exclude a specific site or keyword.

Dear Mr. Robby,

You have two ways to exclude a domain from your Google.com search.

1- Adding (excludedSite.com) after search keywords.

2- Adding (excludedSite-com) as unwanted words in advanced search.

Example:

We need to search for sites talks about Google excluding Google.com itself.

Using method 1

Google excluding Google.com

Using method 2

Adding (excludedSite-com) as unwanted words in advanced search.

I hope that was useful.

Dear Robby

You can found specific website on Google just putting full website name, here you must be so careful about spelling of website name.  The keyword that you use to search a specific website it should be very specific for that website. Adding extension is important to search a specific things in Google. Adding extension means .com, .org, .net and for looking pdf document .pdf .

Thanks and Regards,

Manik
