Hi Experts!
I want to hide my hard drive from other user of this computer. How can I hide and lock the hard drives on my PC? I don't intend to hide the whole content of my computer, just the hard drive partition. How can I do it with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7?
Thank you.
How to Hide Hard Drive and some Tweaking
Hi
So you want to hide the drive. This is a perfect way to protect your very important and personal data from other users.
But there is a problem with the operating system that you are using in your computer. So I will give you a simple solution than can hide the hard drive with few commands for the Windows 7 operating system.
The command ate same for the other Microsoft operating systems.
First type the words “diskpart” in Start menu. Then open diskpart.exe
It will open Disk part utility in separate window. Just type “list volume “ on it.
It will show the all available disks in your computer. In it there is a letter for each partition.
Type “remove letter C” (C is the letter of the drove you want to hide)
So job done the partition will disappear after you restart the PC.
If you want to get bake the partition follows the same way and type “assign letter C”
Thank you …
How to Hide Hard Drive and some Tweaking
Here are the three easy ways to hide your hard drive on your PC:
1. You can use Hide Drives Hide (HDHide) to hide or unhide drive letters on any computer using Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP operating systems whether they are actual physical drives on a local machine or logical drives. The hidden drive letters will not be visible in Explorer or any other application that use the common Windows “Save”, “Save As”, or “Open” dialog boxes.
2. TweakUI can also be used to hide your hard drives. It is a part of the Microsoft Power Toys utilities and can do much more than just hiding your hard drives. After installing, go to Start > Programs > PowerToys for Windows XP > TweakUI. Expand My Computer then click on Drives. Uncheck the drives you wish to hide.
3. If you do not want to install any additional software to your computer, you can achieve the same result by using the Command Prompt. Click Start > Run > type cmd and press Enter. In the command prompt, type diskpart and press Enter. Then, type list volume. If, for example, you would like to hide drive E, type select volume 6. After that, type remove letter E. Take note that this action requires a computer reboot. If you want to unhide the drive and make it accessible again, just repeat the same process but type assign letter E instead of remove letter E.
