How I can solve the Problem with Recent Programs list?

Hi,

Yesterday I installed a clean installation of windows 7 professional 64 bit. I've bought it from a nearer software shop. It was running quite well. No problem I found except the recent programs list on the start menu. The only programs that ever show there are Internet Explorer, Calculator, etc. In the start menu properties, the "Store and display recently opened programs in the Start Menu" box is checked, but the programs recent programs are not showing properly.

I like windows 7 for its crystal clear display, graphical elements and some special features. But I am having a problem with that recent programs list. It’s giving me so much irritation. Has anybody else experienced this problem, or maybe have a solution to it? I'm looking to hear something about problem.

Hi Stephen,

Below are the steps to enable the Recently Opened programs for Windows 7.

1.       Right click the Start menu > select Properties.

2.       Go to the Start Menu box.

3.       Under Privacy, you may enable the Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu or Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu and Task bar.

4.       Click Apply and OK.

5.       Then try to open some programs and close them. Then check on the Start menu if you can see those opened programs.

That’s it! I attached some screenshots as well for your convenience. Hope this helps.

Hi Stephen41,

Your computer has only 2 options in the Start Menu, Internet Explorer and calculator, right? To add more list of options in the Start Menu, follow these steps below;

1. Choose an icon in your desktop that you want to include or add in your Start Men and then Right Click, choose Pin to Start menu by left clicking it. This will be added in your "Start Menu" button and will be available for click as a short cut.

2. In your System Tray, look for an Icon and do Right Click, Select Pin to Start Menu and also, this will be added in our Start Menu bar.

3. Right click on Start Menu, Properties and Click on the Menu and check the box on Store and display recent programs.

4. If your computer only has limited selections, such as Icons, Software Applications, Programs and Features, this means that by the time you bought this at store, they install only the trial version of Windows. You may consider buy a Windows Operating software and install in your computer to get the full access of Windows.

Hope this help.
