What do we need to make the backup domain controller perform actively if the domain controller set down in Windows Server 2003 on AD network? Any ideas?
How to make domain controller work?

Hi, please find below information for your reference.
Â
Active Directory has to be backed up always to keep the Active Directory database health. You could use tool of NTBACKUP which is a built-in with MSServer 2003, or use any other tools.Â
Â
The Active Directory back-up is done on one or more of Domain Controllers (or DCs) and is performed by backing up those servers’ system state where have SYSVOL folder, NTDS.DIT, Cluster database, certificates from Certificate Server, system boot files, COM+ Class Registration Database and local registry.
Â
Follow these steps to use NTBACKUP.
Â
1. Run and Open NTBACKUP or Start > Accessories > System Tools.
2. If Restore or Backup Wizard appears, un-Chick ‘Always Start in Wizard Mode’ and choose ‘Advanced Mode’.
3. Choose Backup tap in NTBACKUP window.
4. Choose ‘System State’ box.  The components cannot be selected manually. Nothing or All.
5. Then BKF, insert a backup path. Â If a tape device is used, make sure the configuration is correct.
6. Start the Backup.
7. ‘Backup Job Information’ appears and you can configure the backup schedule and others. But do not change any settings except the schedule for System State.
8. After that, the backup job will begin. When backup is finished, review the output. And label and secure backup file/tape properly and store a copy at a secure and remote location if possible.
Â
Hope this helps.
How to make domain controller work?
To make the domain controller work, you need to login to the domain so as to gain access to the resources that are available. You need to login as a member of the Domain Administrators account so as to be able to make it function. The resources may be located on different servers of the network you are using. For windows operating system it uses the domain to manage the access to a set of network resources. You also need to ensure you configure the Group Policy on the domain controller so as to enhance the security of your domain controller. This will also ensure security for your entire operation environment as well. You can get a step by step process to follow at this site.
