Hi Waltere,
The short answer is Yes it is possible.
What you are trying to do is called internet connection sharing which is something that you can do easily with out any programs on windows 7. Below are the steps that you need to follow to get this working:
1- Go to control panel –> Under Network and Internet you'll see View network status and tasks click that –> now you are in the network and sharing center –> now choose set up a new connection or network –> scroll down in the list till you find set up ad-hoc (computer to computer network) –> now you have to give your network a name and also choose if you want it secured with a secret key or an open network also make sure to check the Save this network –> the final step would be selecting Turn on Internet connection sharing for this network –> check Allow other network users to connect throw this computer internet connection.
Now you can connect wirelessly to this network you created and use your broadband connection on connected devices.
Hope this helps.
Fortunately, it is possible. If your computer is running on Windows 7, you can turn that machine into a Wi-Fi hotspot. To try it, click “Start”, “All Programs”, “Accessories” then right-click “Command Prompt” and select “Run as administrator” to start an elevated command prompt. In the command prompt window, type without quotes “netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=MyNetworkhere key=Password” then hit Enter.
Replace “MyNetworkhere” with the name you’d like to use for your Wi-Fi network and “Password” with the password you want. Next, type without quotes “netsh wlan start hostednetwork” then hit Enter. This initiates the virtual adapter. After this, click “Start”, “Control Panel”, “Network and Internet”, “Network and Sharing Centre”, “Change Adapter Settings” then right-click your internet connection and select “Properties”.
In the “Properties” window, go to “Sharing” tab then check “Allow other network users to connect…” and then select your virtual Wi-Fi adapter. And that’s it. Any Wi-Fi capable device will now be able to pick up your laptop as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
On the other hand, if you no longer wish to share your laptop Wi-Fi hotspot, click “Start”, “Control Panel”, “Network and Internet”, “Network and Sharing Centre”, “Change Adapter Settings” then right-click your internet connection and select “Properties”. In the “Properties” window, go to “Sharing” tab then uncheck “Allow other network users to connect…” and click “OK”.
